While the Littlest Blonde and I are rapidly becoming best friends, it was very awkward the next night when the Littlest Blonde asked at the dinner table if Johnny could spend the night. We both sort of looked at each other as we were not prepared on having that talk right then. So Little Blonde said she was okay with it as long as the Littlest Blonde said yes. And then the Littlest Blonde turned to me and said, "Where are you going to sleep?" And I pointed to her mother's bedroom and said, "Right in there with your mother." She then asked if she could sleep with us that she promised she wouldn't take up much room. She said she could sleep on the edge of the bed. It was very cute. I said, "No but you can sometime just not tonight." She said, "Okay."
What was interesting was I was noticing any time I talked to her or asked her to do something she did it with absolutely no problem. We finished dinner and Little Blonde told her to go take a shower, again in a kind of rough voice. Then told her to go to bed. Let me say right here, each time I say Little Blonde told her to go to bed, Little blonde would go in and tuck her back into bed and kiss her goodnight. I spent the night and found out something else Little Blonde and I have very different habits on. Little Blonde goes to bed at 8:30. I don't even get started till 8:30. The next morning all of a sudden the Littlest Blonde was jumping on our bed telling us to wake up which was quite cute.
So here we are on day three of whatever it was and these two beautiful girls show up at my office. It was always a great treat for them to come by and I became very used to. The Littlest Blonde would always run into my office with a big hug. We talked for a while that day like we usually did and made plans for that night. Keep in mind, there aren't many plans to be made when you go to bed at 8:30. I was leaving the next day for a trip I had to go on. So I think we went out to eat that night and when we got home I asked Little Blonde if I could get the Littlest Blonde to take a shower and if I could put her to bed. She said sure and good luck.
By the time we got home it was already past her bedtime, and I knew it would be difficult to basically come home and go straight to bed for her but I thought I'd give it a try. I asked the Littlest Blonde to come with me to the couch, there was something I wanted to talk to her about. She came over to the couch and sat down right beside me and just looked at me. I asked her if she had a good day today. She said yes and I asked what had made it a good day. She told me that she had a good day at daycare and that she liked me being there and that she got to play outside. I then asked if she wanted tomorrow to be a good day too and she said yes. I told her that mommy takes a bath every night and goes to bed, I take a bath every night and go to bed and that she needed to take a bath and go to bed, too. She started frowning a little bit and crying. I said, "Wait a minute Littlest Blonde. I don't like you to cry. This is just something normal that everybody does. You know you have to take a bath and you know you have to go to bed. You can do it the easy way or you can do it the hard way."
I told her I loved her and I wanted her to take a bath and then go to bed. She then asked me if after her bath if I would carry her to bed. I said of course I would. She runs off, takes her bath and comes back. I asked her if she brushed her teeth and she hadn't. So she runs off to brush her teeth and then wants me to carry her to bed. I picked her up and carried her to bed, tucked her in, kissed her and told her I loved her and good night. I told her I would send Little Blonde in to kiss her and tell her good night. She told me she loved me too as I was walking out. I went and got Little Blonde and said, "The Littlest Blonde is in bed. Would you please go kiss her and tell her good night?" She just looked at me, puzzled as to how that had happended so easily?
