I Hate You--Don't Leave Me - Part 8

So it seems to me that choosing your path for therapy is similar to choosing a prescription. I will explain. The way that it’s the same is therapy is the mechanism that is going to help you be better just like a prescription is supposed to help you feel better. Although, I do see flaws in this concept. Due to the fact that prescriptions, or most of them anyway, have side effects and don’t always work the way you want them to. I feel therapy is the same way. You have to be fully committed to your treatment plan and sometimes that is easier said than done. Behavioral therapy is probably one of the hardest challenges any person can go through because you essentially have to change your way of thinking in order to change the errors you are making. That means consciously thinking about your choices and examining your thoughts on a daily basis. Let me tell ya that is not easy. Therapy is can be difficult and has the capacity to have consequences good or bad. I would be extremely careful as to whom I went to for professional help and how that professional went about treating me. Therapy can be a very fine line to walk so being aware and educated is very important. - Dear
